Large Chromium Zirconium Copper Tube – Process & Quality Assurance Statement
Our large chromium zirconium copper tubes are specifically developed for heavy-duty applications requiring sustained conductivity and mechanical strength at elevated temperatures, where standard copper would soften or lose performance.
Key process features
Production employs advanced metallurgical and extrusion techniques to maintain uniform properties in substantial diameters and wall thicknesses:
●Alloy Preparation: High-purity copper is alloyed with precise chromium and zirconium additions in controlled induction furnaces.
●Casting: Semi-continuous casting produces large ingots or hollow billets with homogeneous composition.
●Hot Extrusion: High-tonnage presses extrude the material into seamless tubes, refining grain structure and achieving high density.
●Solution Heat Treatment: Tubes are solution annealed at high temperature and rapidly quenched to create a supersaturated matrix.
●Cold Drawing: Multiple controlled draw passes refine dimensions, improve surface finish, and enhance straightness.
●Precipitation Aging: Low-temperature aging develops optimal hardness, strength, and conductivity balance.
●Final Sizing & Protection: Tubes are straightened, cut to length, and lightly oiled to prevent oxidation during storage and global shipping.
Quality control system
● Full traceability from raw alloy melt to finished tube
● Comprehensive material test certificates and heat treatment reports supplied with every shipment
● Sample retention ≥3 years for third-party verification (SGS, BV, TÜV, etc.)
● 100% inspection of critical parameters:
• Chemical composition (optical emission spectrometry)
• Mechanical properties (tensile, hardness, and conductivity tested at multiple locations)
• Dimensional accuracy (ultrasonic wall thickness + micrometers; typical tolerance ±1% on OD/wall)
• Surface finish and ovality (profilometer + visual checks)
• Internal soundness (full ultrasonic scanning)
● Internal standards exceed ASTM B768 requirements. Typical C18150 aged properties:
Tensile strength ≥450 MPa, Hardness ≥140 HB, Electrical conductivity ≥80% IACS, Excellent stability up to 500°C without significant softening.
● ISO 9001:2015 certified facility ensures every large chromium zirconium copper tube delivers consistent, reliable performance in your most demanding high-temperature and high-conductivity applications.
