Chromium Zirconium Copper Square Bar – Process & Quality Assurance Statement
Our chromium zirconium copper square bars are engineered for applications requiring sustained conductivity and mechanical strength at elevated temperatures, where standard copper would soften or lose performance.
Key process features
Production employs advanced metallurgical and extrusion techniques to maintain uniform properties in square sections:
●Alloy Preparation: High-purity copper is alloyed with precise chromium and zirconium additions in controlled induction furnaces under protective atmosphere.
●Casting: Semi-continuous casting produces large billets with homogeneous composition and minimal segregation.
●Hot Extrusion: High-tonnage presses extrude the material into square bars, refining grain structure and achieving high density.
●Solution Heat Treatment: Bars are solution annealed at high temperature and rapidly quenched to create a supersaturated matrix.
●Precipitation Aging: Controlled low-temperature aging develops optimal hardness, strength, and conductivity balance.
●Straightening & Cutting: Hydraulic straightening ensures excellent linearity, followed by precision sawing to customer lengths.
●Surface Finishing: Optional turning or grinding achieves smooth surfaces and tight dimensional tolerances; parts are cleaned and lightly oiled for protection.
Quality control system
● Full traceability from raw alloy melt to finished square bar
● Comprehensive material test certificates and heat treatment reports supplied with every shipment
● Sample retention ≥3 years for third-party verification (SGS, BV, TÜV, etc.)
● 100% inspection of critical parameters:
• Chemical composition (optical emission spectrometry)
• Mechanical properties (tensile, hardness, and conductivity tested at multiple locations)
• Dimensional accuracy (micrometers and CMM; typical tolerance ±0.2mm on side length)
• Surface quality and straightness (profilometer + laser measurement)
• Internal soundness (full ultrasonic scanning)
● Internal standards exceed ASTM B768 requirements. Typical C18150 aged properties:
Tensile strength ≥450 MPa, Hardness ≥140 HB, Electrical conductivity ≥80% IACS, Excellent stability up to 500°C without significant softening.
● ISO 9001:2015 certified facility ensures every chromium zirconium copper square bar delivers consistent, reliable performance in your most demanding high-temperature and high-conductivity applications.
