FAQ
ASTM B196/B196M is the primary material standard for C17200 rod and bar. Additional dimensional, mechanical or inspection requirements can be defined by the customer’s drawing or purchase specification.
Standard supply covers diameters from 50 mm to 300 mm and lengths from 500 mm to 3000 mm. Larger diameters and custom cut lengths are available after material and technical review.
Yes. Products can be supplied as full-length rods, saw-cut blanks, turned bars or precision-ground round bars. End facing and center drilling are also available.
Available conditions include solution-treated, cold-worked, mill-hardened and precipitation-hardened conditions. The appropriate condition depends on the required strength, hardness, conductivity and downstream machining process.
No. Tensile strength depends on the material condition, diameter, cold work, heat treatment and test location. Selected age-hardened conditions may achieve 1200 MPa or above, but any guaranteed value must be confirmed in the quotation and MTC.
Available tolerance depends on the rod diameter, length, surface condition, straightness requirement and manufacturing route. Tight tolerances require specification or drawing review before quotation.
Yes. Ultrasonic testing can be arranged for suitable large-diameter sections. The test method, reference standard, examination surface and acceptance criteria must be agreed before production.
Yes. Material Test Certificates, heat-treatment records, dimensional inspection reports and other agreed documents can be supplied according to the order requirements.
Yes, subject to size and material availability. C17500 and C17510 offer higher electrical conductivity but lower maximum strength than C17200. They are different alloys and must be quoted according to their own standards, tempers and required properties.
