Custom Aluminum Bronze Gear – Process & Quality Assurance Statement
Our custom aluminum bronze gears are designed for applications that demand durability in corrosive, high-load settings where standard materials would wear out prematurely.
Key process features
Manufacturing combines precise casting or forging with advanced machining to produce gears with excellent tooth accuracy and material integrity:
●Material Selection: Certified ingots are melted with controlled aluminum, nickel, and iron additions for the desired alloy properties.
●Forming Process: Large blanks are sand cast, centrifugally cast, or forged to near-net shape, ensuring dense structure and minimal defects.
●Rough Machining: CNC turning establishes basic gear blank dimensions and prepares for tooth cutting.
●Gear Cutting: High-precision hobbing, shaping, or milling creates accurate tooth profiles tailored to your specifications.
●Heat Treatment: Annealing or quenching optimizes hardness, strength, and wear resistance balance.
●Finish Machining: Grinding or honing refines tooth surfaces for smooth, quiet operation and tight tolerances.
●Final Protection: Parts are cleaned and lightly oiled to guard against corrosion during storage and shipping.
Quality control system
● Complete traceability from ingot batch to finished gear
● Material test certificates and gear inspection reports provided with every order
● Sample retention ≥3 years for third-party verification (SGS, BV, TÜV, etc.)
● 100% inspection of essential parameters:
• Chemical composition (optical emission spectrometry)
• Mechanical properties (tensile, hardness, and impact testing on samples)
• Gear accuracy (gear measuring machine; typically AGMA 8-10 or equivalent)
• Dimensional and profile tolerances (CMM; tooth accuracy ±0.02mm typical)
• Surface finish and visual defects (magnified inspection)
● Internal standards exceed ASTM B148 requirements. Typical C95800 properties: Tensile strength ≥690 MPa, Yield strength ≥345 MPa, Outstanding resistance to cavitation, corrosion, and heavy wear.
● ISO 9001:2015 certified processes ensure every custom aluminum bronze gear delivers the reliable strength, precision, and longevity your critical transmissions depend on.
