Forged High-Purity Copper Components – Process & Quality Assurance
We specialize in hot forging of high-conductivity oxygen-free and high-purity copper (CU-ETP, CU-OF, TU1, TU2), with single-piece weights ranging from 0.5 kg to 800 kg. Typical applications include high-voltage busbar connectors for new energy systems, moving/static contacts for vacuum circuit breakers, large collector rings, electromagnetic switch components, industrial heat-sink bases, and marine power system parts.
Key Process Capabilities
● Melting in medium-frequency induction furnaces under protective atmosphere, maintaining oxygen content ≤5 ppm and eliminating hydrogen disease
● Closed-die forging on 800–6300 ton presses with graphite-based release agents, ensuring continuous metal flow lines and refined grain structure (ASTM E112 ≥ Grade 6 typical)
● Precise forging temperature control between 720–850 °C, followed by controlled cooling to minimize residual stress and prevent cracking during subsequent machining
● Three-directional forging and upsetting sequences applied to critical components for improved transverse mechanical properties and microstructural uniformity
Quality Control & Traceability
● Full batch traceability: melt lot → forging serial number → test reports
● Routine testing per heat: chemical composition (OES), electrical conductivity (≥101% IACS by eddy current), ultrasonic inspection (water-immersion C-scan or phased array), metallographic analysis, hardness, and tensile properties
● For high-current/high-voltage parts: 100 % helium leak detection and power-cycling thermal testing to eliminate hot-spot risks in service
● Certified to DNV, ABS, BV, LR and IATF 16949; capable of supplying to EN, ASTM, or JIS standards or per customer drawings
We focus on repeatable process windows, lot-to-lot consistency, and verifiable data rather than marketing slogans. For long-term forged copper requirements, please forward drawings or technical specifications — we commit to providing a detailed process review and prototype plan within 48 hours.
